The Parish Council’s role is to represent the interests of our community within a broad landscape of national governance. Villagers are encouraged to be observers at the council meetings. We are part of the democratic framework of the country. This is so very necessary if we are to better serve our local community and respond to the many challenges that lie ahead. As the first tier of local government, we are uniquely placed to make a major contribution to localism.

Planning, highways, transport and traffic, community safety, housing, street lighting, allotments, cemeteries, playing fields, community centres, litter, war memorials, seats and shelters, rights of way – these are some of the issues that concern parish government. Our job is to represent the interests of the whole community.

We want to serve you, so you are encouraged to get involved and be part of shaping our Gaydon.
